Cameras Have Gone to the Dogs: New Harness Gives Pets’ Eye View
September 4th, 2014 by Marguerite McNeal
Whether it’s kayaking, romping in the park or blazing trails, humans and their pets love to bond over adventures in the great outddoors.
This week, dogs and their families got a new tool to record the action:
a GoPro camera mount that gives viewers a pet’s eye view.
“As long as I’ve been here, this has been one of the products people have really been asking for,” Josh Druker, senior manager for advanced mounts at GoPro, tells NPR. A YouTube search yields many pet parents’ do-it-yourself attempts to attach the devices to their animals.
The new harness, called GoPro Fetch, allows users to attach the company’s durable, high-definition cameras on dogs as small as 15 pounds and as large as 120 pounds. Druker says that the ultimate goal in creating the product is to allow dog owners to share their passion.
The mount works for other pets, too. “Kama The Surfing Pig” gives a glimpse from the waves as he hangs ten.
